fall play review
The play was amazing, and everyone did a good job. From the director's vision, the whole play did well in the coherence. The play performed without interruption from the beginning to the end, the scene changes are also smooth. Furthermore, the ideas of the play expressed successfully, the plot is clear and the turn at the last is surprising but understandable. All casts stood in the character’s shoes to act which made the performance convincible. Aaron’s performance impresses me the most, his character was kind of glib, however, he expresses it with facial expressions and gestures thoroughly. When others are saying, he did not relax, instead, he continued to make movements that contributed to the character construction which integrated the expression of the personality. For example, in the Act 1, when others are saying, he laid on the sofa, hanging his legs, showing that actually he was not paying fully attention to what he was saying.
The setting also suits the play very well. The two parts of settings distinguish the scenes clearly. From my perspective, maybe there can be more props or objects to show the difference between outside and inside to make the setting more specific. The lighting helps audience to focus on the main scene and characters. It can be improved if the lights can be dimmer if the conversation was serious like in the Act 4 so that the tension can be raised.
Briefly, the play was intriguing and outstanding. The characters articulate the lines very well and the differences of characters between every role are clearly expressed. The setting and lighting also contributed to the success of the play.
