Sonalogue reflection

Sonalogue reflection
During this performance, I designed my blockings more diversely. The emotion of my songalogue is changeable. Initially, I was confused and trying to figure out the truth, so I wandered around the down stage and down left and right stage. Afterwards, when I realized that what I was trying to find is love, I became excited, so I went straight forward from up stage to down stage in order to express my enlightenment.

Moreover, I change my voices and speed to convey my emotions, when I was upset, I said in a slow, deep voices, when I was delighted so I spoke in a more quick and rejoiced way. The change in voice can help audiences catch the change in my character’s emotion directly which is beneficial.

However, I still need to work on facial expression and gestures better. When I was doing the performance, I focused on reciting the lines too much which hindered me from relaxing and conveying ideas through facial expressions, also, I did too much tweaking stuff with my hands which I need to improve.

If I have more time, I will work on trying to express my lines in a more “speaking way” because I break my sentences exactly in the way that the song did which made my monologue not narrative enough. What is more, I need to slow down a little it in order to express and let audience understand clearly. And there is a part that I turned my back to the audience. My intention was to create a dynamic contract with after movements, but my reflections from my classmates said that it is better to face the audiences, so it may be better to do other blockings like turn to another side to achieve the same purpose.

In addition, I can learn a lot from my classmates’ performances. For example, Jordan did a great job by using props in his performance. Using and interacting with objects is a good way to express your characteristics directly while creating more interests to audiences, the same for Kylie. Mao’s facial expressions were amazing which I need to improve, her blocking was not very extensive, but we can understand the emotion of her character through her facial expressions and trembling in voices.
